A Quick Stop in Eugene, OR

After four nights of camping and sleeping in the dirt, we wrapped up the Willamette Scenic Bikeway and rolled into Eugene. It was the perfect place for us to make a quick stop, get a shower, and take care of some freelance projects. The rain hardly stopped during our short stay, and it was great to get out of the elements.

Cortney and I were both craving a big, delicious breakfast when we arrived, and local favorite Morning Glory Café didn’t disappoint.

We couldn’t check into our Airbnb till later in the day. Normally, we would’ve rode around town and checked out the University, but we needed a break and took shelter at Meraki Coffee for a bit.

The rain decided to give it a rest the next afternoon. So we wrapped up our work and went for a walkabout to explore. Eugene is a colorful city and walking through the neighborhoods allows you to see more of its personality, which was a lot of fun.

One of the highlights was stopping in to check out the craft brewing wizardry at Ninkasi.

They have a cool space called the Better Living Room. It’s a space where they celebrate beer, food, art, and community. (All of our favorite things. Coincidence?) We opted for the Rogue Creamery blue cheese popcorn with crispy onion and the Pastrami Pierogis starter (as well as some small-batch limited brews). So good.

We also loved the cool sculptures that greeted us on the way in.

Our stay in Eugene might have been short, but it was sweet. Without a doubt, we’re glad we made the stop.

Our next leg of our route will be a challenging. And as always, it promises to be an unconventional one.
